Best Buy/Time Warner Cable

Founded in 1966, Best Buy is a multinational retailer of technology and entertainment products and services.

Time Warner Cable is the second-largest cable operator in the U.S., with technologically advanced, well-clustered systems located in five geographic areas – New York State, the Carolinas, Ohio, Southern California and Texas.

While Mooney Marketing Group was working on separate projects for these two clients, we realized that Best Buy and Time Warner Cable were attempting to reach an identical customer base, but for different products and services that were, in fact, co-dependent. We felt that they, as well as their customers, could benefit from having representatives of both companies in a single location – Best Buy.

We approached both clients and proposed a Time Warner Cable “store within a store” so that Best Buy customers – whether they were purchasing high-definition televisions or computers requiring internet access – had immediate contact with a Time Warner representative. Doing so eliminated the need for customers to take multiple steps in getting their new systems set up, and they could make appointments, get their questions answered and avoid confusion.

Empower Federal Credit Union

Formed in 2007 by the merger of the Empire and Power Federal Credit Unions, the $1 billion Empower Federal Credit Union serves members at over 20 locations in throughout upstate New York. As the number of Empower locations increased post-merger, the need for a coordinated marketing effort throughout a growing area of influence became evident.

Mooney Marketing Group was asked to provide a single point of contact and coordination for over 60 different media outlets in multiple markets throughout New York. We’ve done so knowing the importance Empower places on not only maintaining but enhancing established relationships with media representatives. We utilize our extensive knowledge of media buying practices to negotiate the best prices possible while remaining fair to the vendors that call on us.

In addition to planning, negotiating, purchasing and verifying broadcast, print, outdoor and direct mail campaigns, Mooney Marketing Group works extensively with Empower’s internal marketing communications group as various advertisements and press releases are conceptualized, produced and distributed.

Pawn King

Family-owned and operated, Pawn King’s 10 locations make it the largest business of its kind in Upstate New York. Like many successful small business owners with multiple locations and aggressive growth plans, owners Chris and Kate Fernandez found themselves pulled in several directions at all times. Mooney Marketing Group was asked to plan, coordinate and manage Pawn King’s marketing efforts across an expanding trading area that now includes Raleigh, North Carolina.

By taking an “umbrella approach” while acting as a single point of contact for sales representatives in all markets, we’ve been able to add efficiencies to Pawn King’s media planning and buying. We also make sure the Pawn King brand is uniform in all locations by purchasing printing for in-store signage and business cards from a single source. And, as Pawn King continues to expand, we’ve been able to help evaluate the viability of new markets and provide competitive analyses so that our client has a clear and significant advantage over the competition from opening day forward.

Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers

The Alliance of Automobile Manufacturers is an association of 12 vehicle manufacturers including BMW Group, Chrysler Group LLC, Ford Motor Company, General Motors Company, Jaguar Land Rover, Mazda, Mercedes-Benz USA, Mitsubishi Motors, Porsche, Toyota, Volkswagen Group of America and Volvo Cars North America. The Alliance produces issue-related advertisements and press announcements offering the viewpoint of a united U.S. automotive industry, often in the face of opposition on issues such as right to repair, safety, and fuel economy, among others.

Mooney Marketing Group has been retained by the Automotive Alliance to handle media evaluation, planning, negotiation and buying in several metropolitan areas across the United States.
